This year I will be teaching Digital Photography and Digital Art 1, 2 and 3. I hope you find your art classes interesting and fulfilling, as well an opportunity to try new things and explore new mediums. I am excited to get to know all of you and see the great work you'll create in class.
First Day of school questionnaire: Getting to know you Please copy the following questions (ctrl + c) and paste them (ctrl +v) into an email, addressed to me: [email protected]. In the subject line, type the block name and class name and "questionnaire". For example: Dblock_DigitalPhoto_Questionnaire
1. What name would you prefer I use to address you? 2. What is your best memory of something you did this summer? 3. What are some of your interests or hobbies? 4. Do you have any experience using Photoshop or other computer applications? (For Digital Photo students, do you have any experience using a DSLR camera like a Canon or Nikon?) 5. What would you like to learn this year? 6. Where would you like to be in ten years? What would you like to be doing? 7. Please let me know how you learn best (through explanation, demonstration, handouts, by doing, etc) 8. What languages do you speak at home? 9. What and where was the last school that you attended?
CLASS EXPECTATIONS In order for us to have a positive and productive art experience this year, the following expectations must be met:
Respect for materials: Use tools and materials as demonstrated, clean materials and workspaces properly, and return materials to their designated spaces.
Respect for each other’s work: Refrain from touching or altering someone else’s work without their permission, offer supportive and constructive feedback.
Respect for each other’s ideas and identities: Make sure the room is an emotionally safe space for all who enter, or, the “golden rule”: treat others as you wish to be treated.
Respect for classroom rules and manners
When you're in the art room, you work on art!
Please don't work on homework from another class.
-NO FOOD OR DRINK EXCEPT WATER BOTTLES.
You will be given a weekly grade out of 10 points for class participation. This grade will be based on your work ethic, timeliness, and demonstration of respect.
School policies on attendance apply to the art room.
School policies on iPad and cell phone use apply to the art room as well.
You will also be evaluated on the effort you put into the following categories for each assignment: -Time on task- how well you use your class time -Craftsmanship/demonstration of learned techniques to the best of your ability -Conceptual development/creativity/self-challenge -Class Critique/Student Reflection
